Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to the most common questions
Is online counselling as effective as meeting in person?
Yes. Research consistently shows that CBT and ACT delivered via video is equally effective as meeting in person for most conditions, including anxiety and depression. What matters most is the quality of the relationship and your own engagement — not where you are geographically.
Why choose a Swedish counsellor if you live abroad?
Living in another country can be enriching — but it can also create a sense of distance from your cultural roots. Talking in your native language allows for deeper, more nuanced expression. A Swedish counsellor understands not only the language, but also the cultural references, values and social norms that have shaped you. Even if you speak fluent English, certain experiences are simply easier to explore in the language and cultural context you grew up in.
Are my sessions confidential?
Yes. All sessions are held in strict confidence in accordance with professional confidentiality obligations and GDPR. Your information is never shared with third parties without your consent, except where legally required — for example, in cases of immediate risk to life.
What happens on the first call?
The free 15-minute assessment call is a relaxed conversation, not a session. We'll talk about what's bringing you here, and I'll explain how I work and answer any questions you have. There's no obligation to continue afterward. If it feels like a good fit, we'll agree on next steps together.
How do I book a session?
Start by booking a free 15-minute assessment call. We'll talk through what's going on and see if this feels like the right fit. If you'd like to continue, we'll book your first session together.
How does online counselling work?
Sessions take place via a video call. You and your counsellor meet face to face in real time, just like an in-person session, but you choose where you are. You need a device with a camera and microphone and a stable internet connection. All sessions are confidential.
How long does a course of counselling take?
A typical CBT or ACT course consists of 8–20 sessions, depending on your goals and situation. We agree on an initial plan during the free consultation and review progress regularly. Shorter interventions (4–8 sessions) are possible for more clearly defined concerns.
How much does it cost?
A single 55-minute session costs 75 EUR. A package of five sessions costs 350 EUR, and ten sessions cost 650 EUR. The free 15-minute assessment call doesn't cost anything and comes with no obligation.
Which package should I choose?
The right package for you depends on your needs and your goals for the work. If you are unsure, we recommend starting with a free assessment call.
What is CBT and ACT, and what's the difference?
CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) are both well-established, evidence-based approaches. CBT focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thought patterns, while ACT focuses on accepting difficult thoughts and feelings while taking action toward what matters to you. I draw on both, depending on what fits you best.
